Prior to his appointment at the NRC, from 2005 to 2010 he provided independent strategic and policy advice to US and international clients on energy, environment, education, and technology policy issues. From 1998 to 2005, Mr Magwood was Director of the US Government’s civilian nuclear energy programme at the US Department of Energy (DOE). During his tenure, he established the Idaho National Laboratory; created activities that reversed the decline of US nuclear technology education; and launched important initiatives such as the Generation IV International Forum (GIF) and the US “Nuclear Power 2010,” which helped restart nuclear plant construction in the United States.

Mr. Yutaka Sagayama Mr. Sagayama currently serves as Task Force Leader for Fast Reactor Development in JAEA. He is currently supporting METI to formulate a new Fast Reactor Development Program in Japan. He is one of the primary members for drawing up the R&D plan of Fast Reactor fuel cycle technology in Japan.

He held major important posts in the area of JAEA such as Director General of advanced nuclear system research & development directorate, Assistant to the president after 1999. He also has made efforts for international cooperation and served important posts of international framework.

Since 2004, he has served as senior adviser to MEXT, and was appointed Chairman of Generation-IV International Forum for 3 years from 2010 to 2012. Following his tenure, he became Chair Emeritus of Generation-IV International Forum.

Dr. John E. Kelly is Past President of the American Nuclear Society. He retired as the Chief Technology Officer for Nuclear Energy at DOE (in 2017) where he was responsible for establishing the strategic technical direction for the civilian nuclear energy R&D program. Prior to that, he was the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Reactor Technologies where he was responsible programs on Small Modular Reactors, Light Water Reactors, Generation IV reactors, and nuclear power systems for space exploration.

Internationally, he chaired the Generation IV International Forum and the IAEA Standing Advisory Group on Nuclear Energy. Before his DOE career, he spent 30 years at Sandia National Laboratories engaged in a broad spectrum of research programs in nuclear reactor safety, advanced nuclear energy technology, and national security.

Dr. Kelly received his B.S. degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Michigan in 1976 and his Ph.D. in nuclear engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1980.

Dr Fiona Rayment OBE, FREng. Fiona is the Chief Science and Technology Officer at the UK National Nuclear Laboratory and has over twenty five years nuclear industry experience working primarily within operations, technology and strategic roles within the UK and internationally. Through her previous role in leading the Nuclear Innovation and Research Office she led on the provision of strategic nuclear advice into the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. She is a chartered Chemist and Engineer with a PhD in Chemistry from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow and is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Royal Society of Chemistry and of the UK Nuclear Institute. She has an MBA from Manchester Business School.

Fiona recently served as a member of Euratom’s Science and Technology Committee. She is currently a member of the Office of Nuclear Regulation Independent Advisory Panel, Idaho National Laboratory's Nuclear Science and Technology Advisory Committee and CEA Energy Division’s Scientific Advisory Committee. She serves as a member of the U.K. Nuclear Industry Council and is a Member of the board of trustees of the Nuclear Institute. Fiona chairs the Innovation workstream of the Nuclear Sector Deal.

Fiona regularly represents the UK at a number of international meetings, and provides keynote / plenary speeches at a variety of international nuclear conferences. Currently she is vice chair of the OECD NEA’s Steering Committee and Bureau.

Dr. Patricia Paviet is the Group Leader of the Radiological Materials Group, at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, and is the National Technical Director of the Molten Salt Reactor Campaign for the US Department of Energy, Office of Nuclear Energy.

Prior to joining PNNL in 2018, she was, Director of the Office of Materials and Chemical Technologies at DOE - Office of Nuclear Energy, responsible for the R&D activities related to the back-end of the nuclear fuel cycle which include material recovery and waste-form development, as well as material protection, accountability and control technologies.

She is currently the Chair of the Gen IV International Forum - Education and Training Working Group, developing webinar series on Gen IV reactor systems which are monthly presented and archived (www.gen-4.org). She has more than 25 years of experience on the back end of the fuel cycle and has worked as a professor at ISU and UNLV, manager at Orano (former AREVA Federal Services), scientist and project lead at CEA, KIT, LLNL, LANL, INL, NBL. She obtained her PhD in radiochemistry from the University Paris XI, Orsay, France in 1992.

Ms. Diane Cameron has been appointed Head of the Nuclear Technology Development and Economics Division in the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA/NTE). She took up her duties on 1 March 2021.
